One a month the South West Alabama Railroad Modelers (SWARM) meets at one of our hobbyists homes for the meeting and to look at and operate Lionel (or other manufacturers) trains. Always lots of fun because we have approximately 70 members and by the time we have rotated through everyones home layout, most of us are so old that starting over is like seeing brand new displays. Today we met at Fred Karkowski's home in Spanish Fort with the gracious hosting of his lovely wife. Fred has "O" gauge trains and he has done a good job forming a background of businesses, farms and residences. What makes electric trains interesting since the turn of the century, is DCC digital control which permits one to operate two trains on the same track without collisions with one another. Just another way for a bunch of guys to get together and talk some train trash.
