Today at Kiwanis we were asked by our president to solicit a few more sponsors to join our 5K Freedom Run scheduled for Saturday May 15, 2010. He announced that the Chamber Of Commerce had pledged $300. toward the event. Our speaker was Police Chief Mike Reynolds who gave us some fantastic statistics about crime in Chickasaw. Every instance of criminal activity has improved, with assaults dropping 10% and burglary down 42% in our community.
He said Chickasaw was approved to join HIDTA, the anti-drug coalition which will pick up some of the expense for training and overtime for drug investigations. Mike also took questions and was asked about our drug-sniffing dog, who we learned has been at the vets for several months with a fleesh eating virus. He is starting to recover and we hope he will be back to active duty very soon.
